D.J. Brand World was founded in 2025 by D.J. Brand, the author behind The Dark Secret of Ian’s Peak series. Born and raised in Lynwood, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, D.J. Brand has nurtured a passion for storytelling since his early years.

In 1979, he relocated to Northam to be closer to his father’s work as a shearer. While attending Northam Senior High School, D.J. continued to develop his writing skills and generate story ideas. One of his early concepts involved a character who, after being electrocuted by a power line, discovers he has powers with the ability to see visions of the future.

Over the following years, D.J. worked at Coles New World while still nurturing his creative ambitions. Upon returning to Perth, he expanded his skill set with further studies and secured a job at one of the city’s largest hospitals. During this period, D.J. shared a living space with someone passionate about acting, much like himself. Together, they collaborated on a movie and television script titled The Dreams Can Be Dangerous, which D.J. painstakingly typed out on an old mechanical typewriter.

His involvement in the arts extended beyond writing. D.J. Brand became a member of the ‘Patch Theatre’ company, where he contributed to staging pantomimes for schools throughout Western Australia. This experience further enriched his connection to storytelling and performance.
